[Handle-info] Handle plug-in for Adobe Acrobat and Reader

We've recently released a new version of the Handle Plug-in for V8.0  
or greater of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. It is available at

It is intended to demonstrate the utility of embedding a identifying  
handle in a PDF document. This contrasts with the common use of  
handles to provide persistent links from one resource to another.  
Instead, these handles, through use of the plug-in, provide a  
persistent link between a document and up-to-date information about  
that same document, e.g., the existence of a new version.

A set of demonstration documents, each with an embedded identifying  
handle, is packaged with the plug-in to show potential uses. To make  
productive use of this technology, a given industry or community of  
users would have to agree on one or more specific applications and  
populate the relevant handle records accordingly. CNRI would be happy  
to work with any group interested in pursuing this technology.
