Yes, I see this now --- I have an extremely crowded desktop (and mind...) so it was not obvious that this folder had appeared. Thanks!
Note that I've not actually gotten this to work behind our firewall; it didn't work when IE was set to "Automatically DEtect Settings," and it didn't work when I used our normal proxy settings.
The error is the "Cannot resolve..." (1311) error.
BTW, it would be helpful if there was a way to independently check/set the internet settings; I get annoyed when applications assume my IE settings are the one to use (esp since I am a Firefox/Thunderbird user)...

The installer must have created a directory called 'Handle Acrobat Plug-in Documents' on your desktop unless you changed the location.
This directory should contain the sample files and the README document.
Thanks for your tip about adding the links to the Start menu.

Unfortunately, it is not clear where the installer puts the sample documents, so I'm having trouble testing the features. I blinked when the Readme appeared during install, so I missed what it might have said, plus I have no idea where the readme and the sample docs were placed.
Perhaps in a future version of the installer, you could add something to the Start menu (i.e. links to plugin docs and the sample pdfs?)
Thanks!

We've recently released a new version of the Handle Plug-in for V8.0 or greater of Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. It is available at
http://www.handle.net/hs-tools/adobe/
It is intended to demonstrate the utility of embedding a identifying handle in a PDF document. This contrasts with the common use of handles to provide persistent links from one resource to another. Instead, these handles, through use of the plug-in, provide a persistent link between a document and up-to-date information about that same document, e.g., the existence of a new version.
A set of demonstration documents, each with an embedded identifying handle, is packaged with the plug-in to show potential uses. To make productive use of this technology, a given industry or community of users would have to agree on one or more specific applications and populate the relevant handle records accordingly. CNRI would be happy to work with any group interested in pursuing this technology.
