[Handle-info] internal file URL for handle

Hi,
Is it possible to use internal file URL 
(file://///servername/folder/file) as URL value? I tried this from the 
batch job and got
"==>INVALID[11]: error in handle value index string"

The users need to create a link which is internal. I am guessing the 
central handle server needs to reach this link. So is there a way to 
create the handle with such links?
