[Handle-info] Mozilla Extension released

All,

CNRI has just released the Handle Client Extension for Mozilla, which is
a native handle client for use with the Mozilla application suite. Both
the source code and a compiled version for use with Firefox are
available at the following URL:

http://www.handle.net/hs-tools/extensions/mozilla_hdlclient.html

While anyone can use the Firefox extension to resolve handles, the
primary intended audiences are 1) handle system administrators who are
looking for an alternative to the Handle Admin Tool and 2) handle system
developers.

FEATURES

(1) Handle Resolution

This extension to the Firefox browser embeds a Handle client into the
web browser, eliminating the need to rely on a Proxy Server System.

The specific resolution features provided are:

- Resolve and serialize the Handle information into XML/HTML.
- Resolve and direct the browser to a URL stored inside the Handle.
- Resolve and display multiple handle values corresponding to handle
type URL, and direct the browser to one or all of the URLs.

(2) Handle Administration

This extension allows well defined and use case oriented handle
administration. Specifically, users can create handles and add handle
values for the URL in the Address bar. This is an easy and intuitive way
to create handles with URLs as values, and add URL values to an existing
handle.

The specific administrative feature provided is:

- Add a value of type URL to a Handle, creating it if it doesn't
already exist, and associate the URL of the web page currently displayed
in the browser.
